How is HTHH different from the shelter?
HTHH does not have a shelter facility. Instead all of our animals are housed in foster homes. We have no paid staff and are all volunteer. We have no government funding and rely on donations for everything we do. Shelters also have no choice in the animals that come to them. We screen the animals we take in and unfortunately cannot take every animal that needs a home but we do the best we can to help the ones in most need.
What if I need to give up my animal, What do I do?
Our main focus is on dogs. However, we do have limited resources for other types of animals. Please contact us and someone will get back to you.
I just left a message about rehoming my dog, How soon will I be contacted?
Since we are all volunteers and do these duties after our regular jobs it can sometimes take a few days for us to get back to you on rehoming your dog.
How do I become involved and help?
Please view our HOW TO HELP page and let us know what you would like to do! We'd love to have you!
I saw a dog listed on another website that says it's in your care, What is the application process?
The first thing you need to do is fill out our adoption application. Once you've done that and submitted it we will review it to see if your family might be a good fit for the animal. If you are we'll contact you within a few days.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! HTHH will provide you with a receipt with our tax ID number on it so that you can claim the donation as a charitable contribution on your taxes.
What is your adoption fee and what does it cover?
Adoption fees are $180 for dogs until 18 mo of age and $155 for dogs over 18 mo of age. It covers spay or neuter at our vet, puppies first shots current at time of adoption, and a microchip. Adopter is responsible for remaining shots after adoption is finalized.
